Cleanings & Checkups

We can help you keep your teeth healthy and beautiful!

Getting regular checkups and cleanings is one of the most important things you can do to preserve your teeth and keep them healthy for life. We like to see our patients every six months so that our hygienists can remove any plaque buildup and tarter, and also to give Dr. Courtney a chance to catch any tooth decay before it develops too far.

We can show you the best ways to brush and clean your teeth as well as other tips for maintaining good oral health.

Checkups with Dr. Courtney

In a checkup, Dr. Courtney will do a complete oral examination, checking for any sensitivity, signs of tooth decay or gum disease, as well as a check for oral cancer. We also use digital x-rays as needed to check for cavities, as well as an intraoral camera to show you pictures of what the dentists see in your mouth.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Dr. Courtney gives injections you won't even feel,  and he uses tooth-colored composite fillings for most cavities. For large cavities, another option is a crown, a tooth-colored restoration forming a complete outer cover for the tooth.

Treatment for Gingivitis (Gum Diseases)

At Dr. Courtney's office we treat mild to intermediate gum disease (gingivitis) with deep cleaning (also called scaling and root planing).

Our hygienists are trained to provide thorough and gentle deep cleanings to remove bacteria from your teeth and the pockets that develop in your gums.

The remaining bacteria is often eliminated using Arestin therapy.

Usually this treatment is enough to return your gums to a healthy state. We partner with an excellent periodontist if you end up needing treatment for more advanced stages of gum disease or bone loss.
